What is a Ketosteril Tablet?

Ketosteril tablet is a nutritional supplement for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It contains keto analogues of essential amino acids along with other amino acids like lysine, phenylalanine, histidine, valine, threonine, leucine, tryptophan, tyrosine, and methionine.

It is manufactured and marketed by Fresenius Kabi India Pvt. Ltd.

Ketosteril tablets are used for treating chronic kidney disease (CKD) to help slow down kidney damage and delay the need for dialysis.

How does Ketosteril Tablet work?

The Ketosteril tablets are given with a protein-restricted diet. These tablets provide the body with a special nutrient called keto analogues of essential amino acids, substituting the protein. Therefore, this prevents malnutrition and helps protect the kidney from damage.

>Missed dose

If you miss a dose of Ketosteril tablet take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time near the next dose, then skip it, and continue with the scheduled dose. Do not take an extra dose.

>Overdose

Taking more than recommended doses can cause adverse effects. In case of accidental overdose do not wait for the symptoms to occur and visit your doctor immediately.

The symptoms of overdose are:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Diarrhea 
• Fatigue
• Weak muscle strength
• Irregular heartbeat
• Dry mouth
• Bloating
• Upset stomach
