What Is Udenafil?

Udenafil is a highly selective and long-acting phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor. It is well-known among men for its therapeutic benefits.

History Of Udenafil

Udenafil is a medication developed in the late 1990s by Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co. in South Korea, following the success of Sildenafil, the first PDE-5 inhibitor for erectile dysfunction (ED). The aim was to create a drug that combined the benefits of a longer duration of action with a quicker onset and improved tolerability. After several years of clinical research, Udenafil was approved for medical use in South Korea in 2005 under the brand name Zydena. 

In the following years, it was introduced in other countries, including Russia, the Philippines, and China, where it gained popularity as an alternative to more widely known ED medications. Despite showing favorable results in clinical studies and being well tolerated, udenafil has not been approved by the U.S. FDA or the European Medicines Agency, primarily due to limited global trials and the dominance of existing drugs in the market. Today, Udenafil is prescribed in several countries for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and is sometimes studied for related conditions such as diabetes-related ED and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Medical Uses Of Udenafil

Udenafil is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Erectile dysfunction or ED is the inability to get and keep a hard and erect penis suitable for intercourse.  

How Udenafil Works?

Udenafil works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, improving blood flow to the penis when a man is sexually aroused. This helps to get an erection. 

Udenafil Dosages And Forms

The available dosage strengths of Udenafil are 100 mg and 200 mg. The most common dosage is 100 mg, taken 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity.  In cases where the 100 mg dose is not effective or well-tolerated, the dosage may be increased to 200 mg.

How To Take Udenafil?

• Swallow one tablet with a glass of water.
• Udenafil can be taken with or without food, but avoid high-fat meals, as they may delay the effect. 
• Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully while taking this ED medication.
• Do not crush or chew this medication.
• Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.

• Udenafil is not approved for use in women or individuals under 18 years of age.
• Do not drive or operate machinery as Udenafil may cause dizziness and blurred vision in some people.
• Discontinue the use of Udenafil if you notice any allergic reaction such as rash while taking the medication.
